Mother Nature’s Chair by Chris Lang
Yesterday the Jafa girls and a Nancy’s Jafa Hubby-Steven, descended on the Ohio Craft Museum in Columbus to see their Chair Show. The postcard they had sent out showed some very intriguing/fun art in the form of chairs. So I (Nancy) asked the crew if they were interested, got resounding “yeses!” and we were off on a bitterly cold day to bum around Columbus.
Mr. Plato sat in the back with Jafabrit Corrine. (He seemed a bit quiet but happy to be out and about. Corrine did most of the talking!)
The Ohio Craft museum was easy to find and had there own parking lot. We scuttled in and were immediately blown away with the joyful collection of eccentric Chairs. Big chairs, little chairs, chairs made of sawdust, a blown up chair of plastic bags. OOOoooo there were chairs to delight all your senses. I had to keep grabbing my hands to keep from touching them. We dashed from chair to chair and pulled each other over to check out our finds. The presentation was warm and inviting. We were allowed to take pictures and given gloves so that we could turn the pages in an artist’s book about chairs. We were greeted and shown around. And when we brought up Mr. Plato and our wish to bring him in and photograph him there we were smiled at and given the go a head. This is my kind of Museum!
As you can see Mr. Plato was wowed by the show too!
The Chair show will continue until March 27th. The Ohio Craft Museum is at 1665 W. Fifth Ave. in Columbus. www.ohiocraft.org Treat yourself to a wonderful time, go visit!
